Through partnership with cohorts like American Bankers' Association's Teach Children to Save , Everfi Financial Literacy and Cemark's elementary and high school programs, your local community bank has fostered a proven track record of teaching financial education to students in the City of Harrisonburg, and the Counties of  Rockingham, Page, and Shenandoah. With these programs, thousands of local students have developed a better understanding of money, saving, and managing credit through fun and memorable experiences.

F&M Bank employees also spend several days in April visiting elementary schools as part of the American Bankers’ Association’s Teach Children to Save month. Teach Children to Save lessons involve stories and activities that are designed to meet educational standards in personal finance and reinforce concepts being taught in math, language arts and other disciplines.

The American Banker's Association also offers a financial program entitled Safe Banking for Seniors. Financial abuse against older Americans can take many forms, from illegal debits, to third-party scams and even unauthorized withdrawals by an approved caregiver. And with the share of the U.S. population 60 years and over projected to reach 30 percent by 2025, the opportunities to take advantage of these at-risk bank customers become more prevalent—by the minute. Through this program, employees present information in order to help senior citizens recognize scams and avoid identity theft.
