Question: What do you enjoy most about being a lender for F&M?

I most enjoy seeing businesses succeed and move towards their financial projections and goals. For individuals, I enjoy giving them the opportunity to realize their dreams of perhaps finally being able to purchase that RV, boat, or vacation home they’ve envisioned, as well as giving them guidance on how they can start planning for their future retirement years. Ultimately, the enjoyment comes from simply knowing that you’ve helped someone with a need.

Question: Why should a local business choose F&M’s commercial lending services over a larger national bank?

The betterment of our local communities, businesses and individuals continues to be at the forefront of our corporate objectives and goals, as it has always been since 1908. We have a proven history of promoting, serving and enriching our local communities, friends and neighbors.

Let’s Get to Know You:

Question: Where are you from, and what’s brought you to where you live/work now?

Born, raised and still residing here in the Shenandoah Valley. My life career has been in banking having served in a number of capacities – from back office and administrative duties to lending and business development. Due to this wonderful area in which we live, the mountains, wildlife, and close-knit local communities, I’ve never felt the need or desire to leave, thus being very blessed to call the Shenandoah Valley and F&M Bank home.

Question: What do you like best about the local community you serve?

The communities I serve are principally rural with hard-working individuals and business owners who still believe in an ethic of honesty, respect, compassion, and the significance of hard work, strength, determination and working together as a team for the good of all. I love working in our local communities because of this demonstrated philosophy and the gratitude it gives me by knowing that I’ve assisted businesses and individuals to further improve their financial well-being, as well as supporting their goals and dreams.

Question: What are your hobbies and/or where do you volunteer?

I am an active member with the Broadway Timberville Rotary Club, and I serve on the Advisory Council for the Valley Program for Aging Services (VPAS). VPAS serves adults 60 years and older in the Counties of Augusta, Bath, Highland, Rockbridge and Rockingham, as well as the Cities of Buena Vista, Harrisonburg, Lexington, Staunton and Waynesboro. I am a staunch crusader for the needs of seniors who have no one to look out for them, whether the need be food, medicinal, shelter, transportation, or just simply for someone to acknowledge them with a hello and a quick check-in.

Question: What impact do you hope to make on the local community?

My goal is to help existing businesses further thrive financially and to bring to their attention cost saving measures which will ultimately improve their bottom line. Whether they wish to expand and need an equipment loan, set up a working line of credit, establish merchant processing services or ACH, or open a Free Business Checking account with no minimum balance requirement, I’m here for my customers.

There are many cost saving measures and operational services we offer that do financially strengthen and improve a business’s overall operations. If an individual has an entrepreneurial spirit and has a goal of opening their own business, I welcome that opportunity as well. We do work with the Small Business Administration (SBA) and have helped many new businesses open that are successfully operating today, and without our commitment to our local communities these businesses would not have been able to get off the ground. I pride myself on always trying to add financial benefit to any client that I work with (whether business or individually) – which then flows directly to the ample growth and additional opportunities within each of our local communities.
