Account-to-Account Transfers

Easily move money between your F&M Bank accounts and your accounts at other banks. Transfers within Online and Mobile Banking are built for moving money between your own accounts or external accounts you’ve linked, with options for one-time or recurring transfers and greater control over timing and amounts.

How this is different from Zelle®?

Zelle® is designed for quickly sending money to people you know using an email address or mobile number, with funds typically delivered within minutes.

Transfers within Online and Mobile Banking are different - they’re built for moving money between your own accounts or external accounts you’ve linked, with options for one-time or recurring transfers and greater control over timing and amounts.

Use Zelle® to pay people.

How does Account-to-Account Transfer Work?

F&M Bank’s Online and Mobile Banking makes it easy to link external accounts and move money where you need it. For security, new accounts must be verified before transfers can begin.


Add an External Account

  1. Select Transfers from the main menu (or dashboard in the F&M Mobile app)

  2. Choose + External Account

  3. Follow the prompts based on your account type

  

Verify Your Identity

Depending on your financial institution, you may be asked to:

  • Answer security questions (MFA), or

  • Enter your password for two-factor authentication

 

Enter Account Details

Provide the following:

  • Account name

  • Routing number

  • Account number

  • Account type

Select Submit when complete.

 

Confirm Your Account

If eligible, you’ll receive two small deposits in your external account within 3–5 days.

Once they arrive:

  1. Return to Transfers

  2. Enter the deposit amounts to verify your account

After verification, you’re ready to start transferring funds.

Account-to-Account Transfer FAQs


  • Inbound transfers (money coming into your F&M Bank account) are free.
  • Outbound transfers (money leaving your F&M Bank account) will incur a $1.00 charge per transfer.
  • Customers can transfer up to $6,000 into their F&M Bank account(s) per day.
  • Outbound transfers are limited to $2,000 per day.
The external transfer cutoff time is 3:00 PM.  Any transfers submitted after 3:00 PM will be processed on the next business day.
These micro-deposits will range from $0.01 to $0.99.
  • Clients will have 3 attempts to verify these amounts before needing to begin the process.
  • Micro-deposits not verified within 31 days will no longer be eligible for verification and the customer will need to restart the process.
Zelle® is a great platform for sending quick payments to another individual.  Account to Account Transfer allows you to send funds between account you own at different financial institutions.
